Dean Needs To Feel The Music!

Just like Lisa Simpson. JUST KIDDING! As some of you may have read, I filmed an interview for LA filmmaker, Michael Dean in December. Well, today I received the following email from him:

Need more music for Selby movie
-------------------------------------------

We have about 80% of the music for the movie, but need a little more.
And we need it soon.
If you'd like to submit some, please do.
Send an MP3 or link. If we like it, I'll ask you to mail me a data CD.

Basically almost any style of music can work for this, but they all have
some undefinable common denominator.

Basically we need music that complements talking. Background music. Not
"film" music. "Film" music is foreground and

goes where there's no vocals. We're looking for background music to
sound good under interviews. It should have no

vocals, not vocal samples, no talking or singing in it. It should not
have a lot of dynamics. A beat is ok, but not

required, but it shouldn't have off-beat rhythms or odd time signatures.
Nothing rock will work for this flick.

Talk aloud over the music. That's a good test. See if it helps what
you're saying (good) or obscures it (bad.)

MUST BE ALL ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS. No uncleared samples or nicked
melodies. WE WILL GET SUED.

This does not pay, but we will be submitting cue sheets to BMI and
ASCAP, so residuals are possible from them if the

film is broadcast, and there's a really good chance it will be.

You retain copyright, but will need to sign a release form.

There is a chance for a soundtrack album. People on that will get
royalties based on sales.

thank you much
